Proceedings published by IEEE Computer Society

The Call for Papers has been updated.

The proceedings of the workshop will be published by the IEEE Computer Society. Accepted papers will be available through IEEE Xplore™ and through the IEEE Computer Society Digital Library. The format of papers will have to be prepared according to IEEE Computer Society standards. Only IEEE Xplore™-compliant PDF files can be accepted for final paper submissions.

Paper formatting instructions available

The Workshop proceedings will be published through IEEE Xplore™. Papers must be formatted according to the IEEE Computer Society standards and their length must not exceed 4 IEEE double column style pages including all figures, tables, and references.

Formatting Instructions: 8.5" x 11" (DOC, PDF, PS) and LaTex Formatting Macros.

COST292 Special Session: Towards Automated Robust Vision-based Surveillance

Information about the COST292 invited special session is online [1].

Title: Towards Automated Robust Vision-based Surveillance

Chairs: Dr. Noel E. O’Connor (DCU), Dr. Marzia Corvaglia (Uni. Brescia)

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to

  • Visual computation: background subtraction, object detection and tracking, body and face detection, face recognition;
  • Event and activity modeling and analysis: human action modeling and recognition, crowd behaviour analysis;
  • Multiple stream analysis: fusion across similar and/or differing visual modalities, augmenting visual analysis with other modalities such as audio;
  • Architectures: video surveillance network architectures, new sensors and cameras;
    Annotation, Indexing and Storage: archival & retrieval of sensor data and extracted semantics, query paradigms and languages;
  • Coding: event-/object-based compression for surveillance, scalable coding, distributed coding;
  • Applications: crime prevention, aerial imaging (satellite, infrared), public transport systems, privacy protection, anonymity enforcement;

Call for Special Sessions open

The Call for Special Sessions at WIAMIS'08 is open now and details can be found on http://www.wiamis2008.org/specialSession.html.

Call for Special Sessions

The Program Committee of WIAMIS 2008, the 9th International Workshop on Image Analysis for Multimedia Interactive Services, to be held May 7-9, 2008, in Klagenfurt, Austria, invites proposals for Special Sessions.

Proposals for Special Session must include:

  • Title of the Special Sessions
  • Rationale of the motivation and objective of the Special Session
  • Session outline
  • Specific topics of interest
  • Contact information for the Special Session chair
  • Short biography of the Special Session chair
  • List of authors who have agreed to present a paper in the Special Session (if their papers are accepted), and a tentative title and abstract of each paper.

Proposals for Special Sessions should be submitted to José M. Martínez (JoseM.Martinez@uam.es) before November 23, 2007. Prospective organizers are strongly encouraged to contact José M. Martínez in advance. Notification of accepted of proposals is scheduled December 1, 2007, while the deadline for paper submission and review are the same as for regular papers.

Invited Special Sessions

WIAMIS 2008 will include invited Special Sessions:

  1. COST292 Special Session organized by Noel O’Connor (DCU). The specific topic of the session will be announced shortly.

Papers submitted to the Invited Special Sessions will be reviewed by a mix of reviewers from the WIAMIS 2008 Program Committee and from the Program Committee of the Invited Special Sessions.
